In my research, now concluded, I placed special emphasis on the neurosciences and developmental biology and especially the regeneration of the vertebrate retina. Also, my research has focused on high-resolution, scanning electron microscopy with emphasis on mitochondrial structure.
In administration, I became Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Western Ontario in London in 1978. After completing my decanal term in 1985, I then joined the University of Toronto, Faculty of Medicine, and worked as Chair of the Department of Anatomy and then Associate Dean, Research. I returned to UBC in 1990 for a second term as a Medical Dean and completed this term in 1996. I am now delighted to be continuing my academic work in the Department of Anatomy at UBC and am participating as a tutor in our new Medical Curriculum. |
